Aftercare Guide

To encourage rapid healing and/or bruising is a concern use our Ultimate Recovery cream. We will also provide you with a sample-size healing salve in your care pack (subject to availability ).

  • Avoid touching, itching , or picking around the injection site – This is normal and generally disappears within a few hours to a few days. (If these symptoms last more than 48hrs, please contact the clinic)
  • Avoid lying completely flat or bending down excessively for the first 4 hours. This will prevent the product travelling anywhere else
  • For the first 4hrs, gently exercise the facial muscles of the treated areas by frowning/smiling or lifting the eyebrows occasionally. This will optimise the final result
  • Avoid drinking alcohol or partaking in vigorous exercise, as it may result in additional bruising. Where possible do not exercise for 72 hours after your procedure.
  • Avoid intense heat/Extreme Cold in the treated area(s). This includes sunbathing, tanning, saunas, hot tubs, or hot wax. skiing or other winter sports.
  • Avoid rubbing or touching the injected area or avoid any further treatments to the same area for 72 hours following your aesthetic treatment.
  • The result is seen in as early as 4 days as a more revitalised and youthful look and the full effect at 14 days. Which lasts between 3 to 4 months and up to 6 months in some individuals.
  • You may book your Follow Up Review appointment 2-4 weeks if needed
How to prepare for the treatment
  • For a week before and after the procedure, avoid blood thinners such as aspirin, Ibuprofen and Vitamin E, as well as certain food supplements such as fish oil, licorice, garlic, ginger, ginkgo and green tea
  • To encourage rapid healing and/or bruising is a concern: begin to take Arnica Montana tablets and/or Bromelain Supplements – (bromelain you can also get eating through pineapples)
  • You can buy these in any local health store for £5-10ish both homeopathic safe & incredibly effective remedies
  • Avoid alcohol for 48 hours pre-and post treatment.
  • Avoid topical products such as Tretinoin (Retin-A), Retinols, Retinoids, Glycolic Acid, Alpha Hydroxy Acid, Salicylic Acid, or other “anti-aging”, “acne”, and “bleaching” products.
  • Avoid waxing, bleaching, tweezing, or the use of hair removal cream on the area to be treated.
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure and wear a broad-spectrum sunscreen daily of SPF 30 or higher item.

Am I Suitable for Anti-wrinkle Injections

The use of this treatment is contraindicated in people with

  • neuromuscular disorders such as myasthenia gravis
  • those who are taking certain muscle relaxants and antibodies such as aminoglycosides
  • pregnant or breast feeding women
  • those with infection or inflammation at the proposed site of injections
  • bleeding disorders.
What should I expect after my session?

The expected treatment side effects include tingling, redness, swelling,
bruising, slight discomfort, and small bumps. These effects commonly dissipate within 24hrs; in some patients bruising can last up to 10 days.

Is 2-week review period offered?

Absolutely. Even if you are happy with the result, it is important to attend as your practitioner will want to see that they have the best result for you and, if not, they can give a little tweak. There is no charge for this appointment unless you decide to have another area treated.

Do Anti-wrinkle Injections hurt?

At Skinologic, we use very fine ‘invisible’ needles. This means you will barely feel anything in comparison to traditional needles.
